Following the announcement of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act amendments on February 15, 2023, effective immediately, all the smoking areas on the premises have been removed; smoking is now completely banned on campus. We kindly request the cooperation of all faculty, students, and staff to comply with the smoking ban.

2023 Proposal Competition of the College of Management
隨著全球面臨著各式複雜的問題，例如氣候變化、環境污染、人口過剩、貧富差距等，各國政府與國際社會必須共同努力、尋找解決方案與推動全球永續發展。為此，聯合國在2015年提出了永續發展目標（Sustainable Development Goals，簡稱SDGs），旨在於經濟、社會和環境三方面實現永續發展。
As the world faces a variety of complex issues, such as climate change, environmental pollution, overpopulation, and the wealth gap, governments around the world and the international community must work together to find solutions and promote global sustainable development. To this end, in 2015, the United Nations proposed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which aim to achieve sustainable development in three areas: economic, social and environmental.
In light of this, students in the College of Management should learn how to apply what they have learned, identify problems to be solved, and propose feasible solutions to contribute to the realization of the SDGs. Therefore, our office will hold an SDG proposal competition again this year, and we encourage students to actively participate. We hope participants will propose innovative and sustainable solutions and incorporate SDGs into their proposals in order to help solve many of the social, economic and environmental problems that we face today.
In this competition, we will evaluate the feasibility of the teams’ proposals, their links to the SDGs, and the participants’ past contributions to the SDGs. After the evaluation process, we will select a few outstanding proposals to award and recognize. In addition, proposals of the participating teams may be adopted by the ORSA, the College of Managements, departments, institutes, or other organizations of the College as part of our future sustainability program.
競賽主題與內容：「聚焦未來，攜手實踐SDGs」
Competition theme and content: “Focusing on the Future, Working Together to Achieve SDGs”
Student teams should choose one or more related sustainability goals, explore the integration of the SDG(s) with areas such as corporate social responsibility, community involvement, and technology innovation, and propose innovative solutions for the implementation of the SDG(s). Proposals must have the potential to be implemented by the College of Management faculty, students, staff, teaching or administrative units. Please not that feasibility is one of the key points of the competition.
※Possible ideas to consider: (1) Promoting Sustainability in Education: Propose innovative educational solutions, such as online learning and skills training, to help teachers and students better understand and achieve sustainability goals.
(2) Reducing Carbon Footprint: Participants are encouraged to innovate and promote renewable energy, green transportation and other ways to reduce carbon emissions.
(3) Improving Urban Life: Propose innovative solutions to improve the quality of urban life and reduce urban pollution and traffic congestion.
(4) Promoting Green Finance: Propose innovative solutions to promote the development of green finance, such as green bonds, sustainable bonds, etc.
(5) Reducing marine pollution: Design innovative solutions to reduce the impact of plastic waste and other pollutants on the marine environment.
(6) Protecting Biodiversity: Explore ways to protect biodiversity and raise awareness of environmental protection.
Eligibility: (1) Currently enrolled local, foreign, undergraduate and graduate students of the College of Management, NSYSU (excluding exchange students), regardless of level of study or nationality, are welcome to form teams together to participate in the competition.
(2) Participants must register in teams of 2-5 students (teams may include different levels of study or different nationalities)
(3) Each team of students must have an advisor who is a full-time faculty member of the university.
(1) Preliminary and final rounds will be announced later according to the number of participating teams. Teams should submit their proposals first, and our office will announce the selected teams and provide feedback on to the content of their proposals. (2) Presentations may be in Chinese or English (3) One or more people can be on stage during the presentation (4) Presentation time: 15 minutes (5) If the content of a team’s presentation violates academic ethics or infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, the team will be disqualified from the competition and the award.
競賽地點：管理學院 Competition Venue: College of Management
Competition schedule: (1) Preliminary round: Wednesday, May 31, 2023 Announcement of finalists (2) Final round: Tentatively scheduled for late September 2023. The exact competition date will be announced later. Finalists will be required to submit a revised proposal plan and a presentation file on the second Wednesday of the Fall 2023 semester and to give the presentation on the day of the final competition (the presentation file may be updated before the presentation).
Judging methods: (1) The organizer will invite experts and scholars to form a judging panel to review the revised proposal plans and presentations provided by each team, and then select the top three and other honorable mentions on the day of the final competition. (2) Judging criteria:
Proposal content (fit with SDGs, stakeholders and impact, persuasiveness, organizational structure): 40%
Proposal feasibility: 40%
Team’s knowledge of and their past contributions to SDGs (based on question and answer): 10%
Presentation design: 5%
Oral Presentation Skills: 5%
※The score also includes an assessment of the competition participants’ knowledge of the SDGs as it relates to their past contributions. In this section, judges typically ask the following questions to understand the participant's past experience with SDGs or actions.
Have the participants been involved in projects or activities related to the SDGs in the past?
What is the participants’ level of knowledge and understanding of SDGs?
Does the participant have any comments or suggestions about the College’s past SDGs activities?
Competition Prizes: (1) First place: a certificate and an award of $20,000 (2) Second place: a certificate and an award of $10,000 (3) Third place: a certificate and an award $6,000 (4) Honorable mentions (2-3 teams): a certificate and an award of $3,000
Other finalists will be awarded a certificate of participation
The list of winners will be announced after the competition and posted on the home page of our website.
If the number of teams is too small, the number of awards may be reduced at the discretion of the judges.
Application and Competition-related Timetable: (1) Deadline for submission of preliminary proposal plans: Sunday, April 30, 2023 (2) Discussion of proposal content: The organizer will discuss the proposal content with each team and give suggestions and directions for revisions by the end of May 2023. (3) Submission of final competition materials: the revised proposal plan and presentation file must be submitted on the second Wednesday of the Fall 2023 semester. Late submissions will not be accepted. Use the file name: 2023 College of Management SDG Competition – [Team Name]. (4) Proposal Final: Tentatively scheduled for late September 2023; the exact competition date will be announced later.
